Brendan Carney began practicing personal injury law at a prominent plaintiff’s personal injury trial firm in 2008. Carney, to form The Carney Law Firm which he managed until merging the firm with the Rezendes Law Group out of Braintree, MA. Attorney Carney has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of complex personal injury matters, including construction site accidents, product liability, wrongful death, premises liability and motor vehicle collision which have resulted in six and seven figure settlements and verdicts. In addition to the representation of injured clients in “third party” litigation, Attorney Carney represents injured workers and their families, including professional athletes, in workers’ compensation claims at the Department of Industrial Accidents.

In recognition of his achievements on behalf of injured workers, Attorney Carney was recently elected and served as President of the Massachusetts’ Trial Lawyers Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA). Attorney Carney is currently the immediate Past President of MATA, having served as President from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Attorney Carney has frequently lectured on the topic of workplace safety, workplace injuries and workers’ compensation benefits to various local building trades unions and to members of the National Football League Players’ Association (NFLPA). Attorney Carney was invited to speak as panelist at the 2017 Harvard Law School Sports Law Symposium on the topic of “NFL Player Health”. Attorney Carney is actively involved in efforts to support legislation to achieve fairness for working families and consumers of Massachusetts.

While in law school, Attorney Carney obtained his initial court room experience while working as a law clerk at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, assisting in the prosecution of major felonies for the Office’s gang unit. In addition to his work at the D.A.’s Office, Attorney Carney also gained valuable experience in the representation of professional athletes in various legal matters while working as a law clerk for a Boston-based sports agency, including the negotiation and drafting of playing, marketing, endorsement and public appearance contracts.

Attorney Brendan G. Carney is a 2002 graduate of Boston College and a 2007 graduate of Suffolk University Law School.
